Today all books were due back to the media center for the Thanksgiving break. So it was packed in there! When I walked past, there were piles and stacks everywhere! So I stopped in to see if they could use any help! They of course said they could! The media clerk, two other paras, and I worked diligently for close to two hours before we finally got all the books where they belonged. There were books stacked on the checkout desk, carts, and pretty much everywhere you could find a space! One of the paras was constantly checking books in and putting them into a different stack to be organized and reshelved. The other para and I were picking through the stacks to get any books that belonged in the row for series. The media clerk was in the easy section with an overburdened cart putting them away and straightening shelves as quickly as she could. It seemed that every time we got through a stack another one appeared! After a while, the stacks finally started to shrink and by about 10:30, most of the books were where they belonged. I guess this is what it is like every time all books are due! I knew they were swamped during this time, but I never realized they were this swamped! Thank goodness for outside help!
