I went to Bradwell today for my hours and got to see a side of the media specialist's job that I was not accustomed to seeing. The media specialist was asked to create a map of the school for the class of 1989 with all the changes that have been made to the school since that time. Apparently it has gone under quite the remodeling process at least 3 times since then. This was quite the undertaking and she seemed to get frustrated about it at times, but in the end, it turned out great!
I also had several students and teachers take a SurveyMonkey survey for my facilities plan assignment in FRIT 7132. Also for this assignment, the media specialist found the blueprints for the media center and we measured the square footage of the space. I went around and took pictures for creating my version of the media center. Both of the media specialists were incredibly helpful! I also saw that there was a new display on the table - it is teen read week. So I looked through those books to see what kind of materials she put out on display. I also discussed the Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl books with her - especially "My Most Excellent Year" which was her favorite of the 20 books.
