Today I went to work at Bradwell Institute to complete my weeding activity. The media specialist went through her rules of how she determines which books should be removed from the collection and which ones stay. She gave me the acronym "MUSTY" which I had learned in previous classes but had forgotten. So I took the acronym and the county policy on weeding and went to work on one section of the collection - the 600s. I checked the copyright dates of each and every book in this section and found that around half of them fit the criteria for removal. I asked the media specialist what process she follows to keep the collection full of resources for students to use and she told me that after she weeded one section like I just did, she would immediately go to Titlewave and put new books on a wishlist for future orders. This is how she manages to keep most of the sections current.
